The next meeting of the Friends of the New Mills Community Orchard will be on Thursday 1st October, 7.30pm at New Mills Town Hall. All are welcome.

Thanks to everyone who came! It was a great day - we estimate around 300 people came through the gates and enjoyed the beautiful weather. There are a few more pictures on our Facebook page - I was personally too busy to take many, as I was helping out with the archery - which was certainly well attended! I’ll see if the other volunteers got any photos, and put them up soon.

Thanks to the Derbyshire Wildlife trust, we now have the New Mills Community Orchard Management Plan 2010 – 2015 (large PDF)for maintaining the diversity of the wildlife in the orchard, while hoping to keep the orchard as productive and pleasant for visitors as possible. It contains a wealth of information regarding the biodiversity of the site, and gives practical pointers for the future.
